We have a new video up, this time it’s easy contouring. Not everyone is blessed with chiseled cheekbones but with clever make-up techniques you can create the illusion! Another great contouring product that we’ve just discovered is Kevyn Aucoin’s Sculpting Powder available from Space NK.
I have a slight obsession with tinted moisturisers so I thought it was about time I tried this one from Chantecaille. I’d heard it had good coverage, similar to that of the make-up artist favourite, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturisers, so I was excited to try it.
What I love about Chantecaille is that they spend time creating different formulations in their base products that feel natural on the skin. All of their products contain no animal or mineral derivatives and are free of synthetic colours and fragrances, which essentially means they’re nicer to your skin and won’t make you break out.
I much prefer wearing tinted moisturisers and BB creams as opposed to foundations, especially in the daytime as I like my skin to feel like skin and look natural. That said, I still need a product with good coverage.
What I immediately liked about this product was the texture, it felt creamy but lightweight and it blended well onto my skin (I tried two colours, Glow and Wheat). I would wear Glow in the winter but Wheat warmed my skin tone and that’s exactly what I was looking for. The texture is lightweight enough that you can go a little warmer with this product if you choose to.
I’ve found that with my skin type (combination) I can wear this tinted moisturiser on its own and still feel like my skin is hydrated, I’ve found that with some other tinted moisturisers you still need to wear moisturiser underneath. It also has a key ingredient, sodium hyaluronate, that helps to seal in the skin’s moisture.
It’s easy to apply and blends well onto the skin, I found the best way to apply was to use my fingers or a stippling brush. The coverage is good, it really evens out the skin tone.
OK, so it’s not cheap at £57 (for 50g). However, it didn’t take me that long to justify this purchase as I’d been looking for a tinted moisturiser with good coverage that would also give me a bit of colour (I blame the lack of British summer we’ve had this year!) As you can see from the photo below, it does give me a bit of warmth and that’s exactly what I was after whilst evening out my skintone.
This is a staple item in my holiday make-up bag. It has an SPF15 so I can wear it on the beach and perfect for those hot days where I still need protection but don’t want my skin to feel greasy with a heavy suncream. I don’t get an oily t-zone with this product as I’ve encountered that with some other tinted moisturisers, it just suits my skin perfectly. I will buy it again, despite the price tag because it’s one of the those products that’s really impressive and worth the money.
