Here’s the list of products Fran used on Jess in our latest video.
Mandy Gold makeup palette from PAM – this is great to have in your make-up kit especially if you work on set as it’s so quick and easy to work with.
Concealer/Lip/Cheek Palette from PAM – another great item to have in your kit as it’s a multi-purpose product.
MAC Signed Sealed eyeshadow – discontinued (sorry!) but Shadowy Lady is similar but not as dark. When you’re working on darker skin tones, you can use darker eyeshadow colours for a natural look.
MAC Tempting eyeshadow. Fran chose this pretty golden toned eyeshadow to add a bit of glamour to Jess’ makeup look. I love this shadow so much as it’s really flattering on any eye colour!
NARS Corcovado Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – Fran used this as a highlighter in the inner corner of her eyes. With darker skin tones you can use more golden shades to highlight rather than silver shades.
Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner – we absolutely love these pencils as they’re so easy to blend and have great pigment to them. This is ‘Khaki’ a shade that suits pretty much all skin tones and eye colours.
Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric 01 – we have never come across a blusher like this! The texture is unique, it feels really silky when you apply on the skin and blends very well. We recommend this to anyone who doesn’t like powder blusher and can’t get on with cream blushers.
Sleek Pumpkin Blusher Palette – Sleek make great products for darker skin tones and the prices are reasonable too! Fran used a little powder blusher over the top of the Armani one just to give a bit more oomf.
Guerlain Shine Automatique 263 – these lipsticks by Guerlain are really moisturising and give a nice amount of colour to the lips. I actually have some of these in my own makeup bag and they don’t dry my lips out like MAC lipsticks do.
So there you have it, I hope you found this useful and as always, if you have any beauty related questions, you can always tweet, facebook or instagram us! L x
It’s finally finished! Jo Jo Desmond has released her brand new music video ‘Satisfaction’. Hope you like the hair and makeup..!

We have a tutorial coming up starring my beautiful friend Jess, which has given me some great practice on applying and mixing foundation on black skin. My new palette purchase from PAM (by Mandy Gold) has allowed me to play with different colours to even out the skin tones and create warmth in darker areas.
We decided to go for a subtle evening look using golds and guilded greens, which I’m sure you will agree really suits her. It’s more of an understated, natural feel. Just a touch of glamour without her having to feel like she was caked in makeup or having to use really bright pigments.
Stay tuned for our video…
This is a lovely nude grey fast drying nail polish from 2true. A perfect sophisticated look for at the office and during the day. Use a base coat and top coat to increase longevity. A bargain at 1.99!!
This weeks bold colour look was Nars eyeshadow in Persia. This is a great matte orange paprika colour, perfect for making blue eyes pop! At first I applied with a eyeshadow brush and the colour looked a little transparent, so I decided to apply with my finger for more coverage and then blend out with a brush for a more intense look. This eyeshadow would also work well as a eyeliner mixed with a little water and applied with a brush. The Verdict? The colour is vibrant and wearable but if you are new to strong colours then apply in layers to decide how wild you want to go!
The best way to inject a little life into your face? Use colour!
This little gem from Nars (pic below) inspired me this week to be bold and wear brighter colours! Stay tuned as I will be trying out a variety of bold hues over the coming weeks, and consider me your personal guinea pig as I will show you how wearable bright colours are. So any suggestions… Don’t hesitate to put them forward!
We all fall victim to using the same old tired bits and bobs in our makeup bag. The mangled 10 year old eyeshadow we have at the bottom of the drawer because we don’t want to ‘waste it’. The crusty old mascara we knew we should have thrown away months ago! But why not try to mix up what colours you wear and try different trends? Your face changes as the years go by so whats the harm in trying a wild lip colour or bright eyeshadow? It’s a great confidence boost to try something different. It’s also a very cheap and effective way of changing your appearance. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what suits you – just pick it up and give it a whirl – otherwise how else will you ever know?
May the force be with you…
Until next time…
