Sumptuous two-tone mascara is a new eye opening mascara from Estée Lauder. It comes in range of colours but we thought Madeup should give the black/brown a try!
The idea behind this product is to make your eyes look bigger or more ‘wide eyed’ if you will. One end is a black mascara with a regular sized wand while the other end sports a smaller brush in warm brown for those lower, more delicate lashes.
For my personal tastes the mascara was a little too wet but otherwise it does exactly what it says on the tin. The very action of applying mascara on both the top and the bottom lashes will immediately open up the eye anyway, regardless of the colour. Remember that when reaching for your makeup bag!
I would recommend this to someone who likes a softer look or perhaps for a bride who is looking for a more subtle eye makeup. The brown on the lower lashes provides definition without being too dressy, which is great for daytime. Ladies with a deeper set eye should give this a whirl!
Retailing at £25.00 it isn’t cheap, but its a twofer!
Remember – try before you buy!
The summer is coming and we all know what that means. Wedding Fever!! 😍🎉💋👰🎩💄💗
My family friends Dan and Emma are getting married soon and so we thought we would grab an opportunity to do a makeup trial. After some discussion on what kind of colours Emma usually wears/ prefers, we decided to give it a go. My partner in crime Lauren, always tells me that the skin needs to be prepped correctly. Otherwise, no matter what you put on top, the makeup won’t sit well on the skin.
A bride must always prepare her skin for the big day – making sure she exfoliates and moisturises in a way that is right for her. How do we know this? By really noticing and looking to see how your skin behaves. There is no magic potion or wonder cream, it’s about finding something that works for you. Don’t ever be afraid to ask advice. Ask professionals about skincare, read up on blogs and get swotting up 👍
Emma’s skin was a little dry so I cleansed and moisturised, leaving the moisturiser to soak in for a few minutes. Then I used a ByTerry base in cream beige which has a medium to heavy coverage. On your wedding, choose a base that will last all day. Estée Lauder Double Wear is another great foundation that is long lasting.
Emma loves browns and earthy tones, so I applied one bronze over the lid and a matte brown to contour from my Smashbox eyeshadow palette using a 217 brush. I then lined the top lid with Estée Lauder blackened cocoa kohl and set it with a brown shadow for a soft definition on top and a little on the lower lash line. We didn’t have any posh eyelashes with us so I used some cheapie ones just for our test 😯 On the day we will use lashes with a much more delicate lash line so they look more natural. Individual lashes are good idea to keep it soft and natural too as they add volume where you need or want it most.
I then contoured the face with a matte Clarins bronzer with a little mac blush to brighten the cheeks. Cream blush is also a nice alternative for the big day as it smudges on easily giving a healthy glow without looking too matte. A Estée Lauder nude lippy topped with a Clarins lip perfector and the lips were done. Next time, we will line the lips first for more definition. A sweep of Mac mineralise and a slick of mascara and we were finished.
Until next time…
For a few months now, my friend Erin and I, have been practicing her hair and makeup look for her wedding day – as well as all her bridesmaids! Time flew by as it always does and last weekend we set our alarms for early doors. At 7am we were up, ready to rock and roll having set up the night before to make sure everything ran smoothly. Erin decided to go for a natural makeup was with some pretty false lashes for definition and her hair was curled using a babyliss conical wand for a vintage feel. I wrapped the curls in a net while she slipped into her lace dress and then fingered the hair through around half an hour before she walked down the aisle so it had time to relax, and drop a little. Her bridesmaids walked barefoot in nude and terracotta dresses with rustic wild flowers in their wavy unkempt hair which was also waved using wands. The wedding was set in an open barn which was laden with kitsch decorations. We drank bramble cocktails, home made lemonade and sat on hay bales – plus the fish and chips was pretty damn good :} The atmosphere was so relaxed, the hair and makeup very much suited the day. Its always such a honour to be such a big part of someones big day and especially when it’s a special friend. What a day. X
