I’ve fallen in love. It doesn’t happen very often, it’s quite rare in fact, but when it happens it feels so damn good.
It’s a little bit like the feeling I get when I see a pot of Haagen Dazs cookies and cream ice cream with a spoon sitting next to it. There’s nothing quite like finding something that just fits, feels good and more importantly makes your skin look great.
This Becca beach cheek tint is 100% worth having in your makeup bag. It’s non greasy, non sticky, with a great pigment. This means I only have to use a tiny bead of product plus it blends extremely well. I’m not really sure why they called it a Beach Tint, perhaps because its water resistant too. It’s wearable all year round, comes in an array of colours and smells delicious. Presented in a little squeezy tube which will fit into any bag, it’s priced at £20.
You may worry you are not getting much for your money, but let me put your mind at rest….it will last FOREVER. Ok maybe not forever…I am just being a bit dramatic now. Honestly, its worth every penny and you can even use it on your lips! What more do you want?! Jeez! You lot are so demanding 🙂
Available from Space NK.
Sumptuous two-tone mascara is a new eye opening mascara from Estée Lauder. It comes in range of colours but we thought Madeup should give the black/brown a try!
The idea behind this product is to make your eyes look bigger or more ‘wide eyed’ if you will. One end is a black mascara with a regular sized wand while the other end sports a smaller brush in warm brown for those lower, more delicate lashes.
For my personal tastes the mascara was a little too wet but otherwise it does exactly what it says on the tin. The very action of applying mascara on both the top and the bottom lashes will immediately open up the eye anyway, regardless of the colour. Remember that when reaching for your makeup bag!
I would recommend this to someone who likes a softer look or perhaps for a bride who is looking for a more subtle eye makeup. The brown on the lower lashes provides definition without being too dressy, which is great for daytime. Ladies with a deeper set eye should give this a whirl!
Retailing at £25.00 it isn’t cheap, but its a twofer!
Remember – try before you buy!

We all love a bit of lippy but how do you get it to stay on that bit longer? One glass of wine and it’s gone! As part of our back to basics series, Fran’s done a quick video to show you some handy tips, you’ll need:
– a lip brush
– a lip liner
– your favourite lipstick
– pointed cotton buds (if you need to tidy up around the edges)
It might take you a bit longer to apply but using this method will really increase the longevity of your lippy, just make sure your lips are nicely moisturised first. If they’re a bit dry and flaky use a toothbrush to gently buff away the dry skin.
You can pick up a lip brush from Boots or Superdrug, one of my favourite lip brushes is from Estée Lauder as it’s quite flat so good for layering on the lipstick.
If you try this technique, tweet us your pics!

This is RMK’s Spring Matte Lip Crayon in Orange 05, which is a beautiful
Pros? Easy to apply with its rounded nib, with a nice creamy finish. Not as drying as other matte lipsticks.
Cons? Less vibrant than I had personally hoped for and it didn’t last very long on the lip without fading.
Verdict? Still extremely pricey at £18 – but a great shade and worth having in your bag. Lets hope they bring the price down! As long as you don’t mind topping up and prefer a more subtle shade then this is for you.
I am quite frankly deeply in love with these rollers. This could be because I love a new hair product (especially ones that deliver) or maybe it’s because they are so easy to use. I can’t actually believe us girls have been going this long without these little beauties.
I took small sections of hair around my crown where I wanted some volume, hair sprayed and rolled. I didn’t even need to secure with a pin due to their handy Velcro exterior – they stayed in all on their own which is surprising as I have very thick and heavy hair.
I must admit I haven’t actually slept in them yet – I merely wore them for a few hours before I went out to give my crown some root lift. I would definitely recommend popping them in all over after you have blow-dried your hair, making sure the hair at the root is completely dry. Using a diffuser on the end of a hairdryer, warm up the rollers all over your head, hairspray and leave to cool. Once the rollers are cold, unroll and brush through gently for soft curl, body and lift. You can always tease (backcomb) the root of any of the parts where you want more lift. *Just remember you need a soft brush to easily brush out back combed hair. Alternatively, do exactly what it says on the tin and wear them in bed as well!
The price? I bought a pack of ten rollers for £9 which I feel is a reasonable price for something I wanted to try out. The pack of 20 rollers with a drawstring bag retail at £17.95. I would say they fall on the more expensive side but having tried them I do think they are a product worth having. If anything is going to make your hair look better in the morning, these are it. I would recommend these to people with fine hair as some body and movement always makes hair appear thicker and more healthy. These are also great for beginners as they make rollering your hair fuss free. Give them a go.
* Backcombing doesn’t damage your hair – heat and neglect is to blame. So with that in mind always remember to brush out your backcomb with a soft bristle brush for tangle free tresses as dragging the wrong brush through knotted hair will cause you lots of problems!
At the moment I am trying my hand at being a hair and makeup designer for a low budget movie, which means lots of research and character design amongst other things. I’ve been doing some practising and testing out different styles for my main cast. Check our the pics below!
My model hasn’t been quite so responsive though – as you can see she remains unimpressed. I’m unsure if I’ll ever please that woman … 😉
