Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
We have a new video up on our channel, something a bit different this time. The lovely Danielle from the fashion and beauty blog, Fashionista Barbie agreed to come and do a video with us and we decided to do a make-up look for glasses wearers.
I loved the colours I used on Danielle as they complimented her skin tone nicely, you’ll find a full product list below the video. I’ll be doing more make-up looks for glasses wearers so watch this space.
If you’re a glasses wearer, do you struggle with eye make-up? Or are there any tips and tricks you’d like to share with us?
Here’s the latest video from our YouTube channel. We’ve kept it quite simple but it’s packed full of great tips so we know you’ll enjoy it.
As part of our brow series, we’ve also done a video with make-up artist and grooming specialist Natalie aka The Mother Plucker, which we’ll post very soon.
Here’s the list of products Fran used on Jess in our latest video.
Mandy Gold makeup palette from PAM – this is great to have in your make-up kit especially if you work on set as it’s so quick and easy to work with.
Concealer/Lip/Cheek Palette from PAM – another great item to have in your kit as it’s a multi-purpose product.
MAC Signed Sealed eyeshadow – discontinued (sorry!) but Shadowy Lady is similar but not as dark. When you’re working on darker skin tones, you can use darker eyeshadow colours for a natural look.
MAC Tempting eyeshadow. Fran chose this pretty golden toned eyeshadow to add a bit of glamour to Jess’ makeup look. I love this shadow so much as it’s really flattering on any eye colour!
NARS Corcovado Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – Fran used this as a highlighter in the inner corner of her eyes. With darker skin tones you can use more golden shades to highlight rather than silver shades.
Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner – we absolutely love these pencils as they’re so easy to blend and have great pigment to them. This is ‘Khaki’ a shade that suits pretty much all skin tones and eye colours.
Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric 01 – we have never come across a blusher like this! The texture is unique, it feels really silky when you apply on the skin and blends very well. We recommend this to anyone who doesn’t like powder blusher and can’t get on with cream blushers.
Sleek Pumpkin Blusher Palette – Sleek make great products for darker skin tones and the prices are reasonable too! Fran used a little powder blusher over the top of the Armani one just to give a bit more oomf.
Guerlain Shine Automatique 263 – these lipsticks by Guerlain are really moisturising and give a nice amount of colour to the lips. I actually have some of these in my own makeup bag and they don’t dry my lips out like MAC lipsticks do.
So there you have it, I hope you found this useful and as always, if you have any beauty related questions, you can always tweet, facebook or instagram us! L x
Sumptuous two-tone mascara is a new eye opening mascara from Estée Lauder. It comes in range of colours but we thought Madeup should give the black/brown a try!
The idea behind this product is to make your eyes look bigger or more ‘wide eyed’ if you will. One end is a black mascara with a regular sized wand while the other end sports a smaller brush in warm brown for those lower, more delicate lashes.
For my personal tastes the mascara was a little too wet but otherwise it does exactly what it says on the tin. The very action of applying mascara on both the top and the bottom lashes will immediately open up the eye anyway, regardless of the colour. Remember that when reaching for your makeup bag!
I would recommend this to someone who likes a softer look or perhaps for a bride who is looking for a more subtle eye makeup. The brown on the lower lashes provides definition without being too dressy, which is great for daytime. Ladies with a deeper set eye should give this a whirl!
Retailing at £25.00 it isn’t cheap, but its a twofer!
Remember – try before you buy!
We all love a bit of lippy but how do you get it to stay on that bit longer? One glass of wine and it’s gone! As part of our back to basics series, Fran’s done a quick video to show you some handy tips, you’ll need:
– a lip brush
– a lip liner
– your favourite lipstick
– pointed cotton buds (if you need to tidy up around the edges)
It might take you a bit longer to apply but using this method will really increase the longevity of your lippy, just make sure your lips are nicely moisturised first. If they’re a bit dry and flaky use a toothbrush to gently buff away the dry skin.
You can pick up a lip brush from Boots or Superdrug, one of my favourite lip brushes is from Estée Lauder as it’s quite flat so good for layering on the lipstick.
If you try this technique, tweet us your pics!
Lanolips Lip Balm
Clarins Lipliner in Ruby 02
Estee Lauder Bois De Rose Lipstick
MAC Lip Lacquer
It’s Mother’s Day in the UK on Sunday 10th March so don’t forget to buy a present!
If you’re looking for a pampering treat, Emma Hardie’s Moringa Cleansing Balm is an amazing product. It’s a cleansing balm that will treat your skin and will remove all traces of make-up, yes, even eye make-up. It smells amazing too, with extracts of uplifting Neroli, Orange and Mandarin. You can also apply a thin layer as a night time treatment for a bit of extra pampering and I’ve also found it to minimise open pores so a great all rounder!
