Here’s the list of products Fran used on Jess in our latest video.
Mandy Gold makeup palette from PAM – this is great to have in your make-up kit especially if you work on set as it’s so quick and easy to work with.
Concealer/Lip/Cheek Palette from PAM – another great item to have in your kit as it’s a multi-purpose product.
MAC Signed Sealed eyeshadow – discontinued (sorry!) but Shadowy Lady is similar but not as dark. When you’re working on darker skin tones, you can use darker eyeshadow colours for a natural look.
MAC Tempting eyeshadow. Fran chose this pretty golden toned eyeshadow to add a bit of glamour to Jess’ makeup look. I love this shadow so much as it’s really flattering on any eye colour!
NARS Corcovado Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – Fran used this as a highlighter in the inner corner of her eyes. With darker skin tones you can use more golden shades to highlight rather than silver shades.
Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner – we absolutely love these pencils as they’re so easy to blend and have great pigment to them. This is ‘Khaki’ a shade that suits pretty much all skin tones and eye colours.
Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric 01 – we have never come across a blusher like this! The texture is unique, it feels really silky when you apply on the skin and blends very well. We recommend this to anyone who doesn’t like powder blusher and can’t get on with cream blushers.
Sleek Pumpkin Blusher Palette – Sleek make great products for darker skin tones and the prices are reasonable too! Fran used a little powder blusher over the top of the Armani one just to give a bit more oomf.
Guerlain Shine Automatique 263 – these lipsticks by Guerlain are really moisturising and give a nice amount of colour to the lips. I actually have some of these in my own makeup bag and they don’t dry my lips out like MAC lipsticks do.

So one half of made up has gone travelling to Asia – leaving the lovely Lauren behind. Selfish I know! My first stop was South Korea visiting friends in Seoul. Seoul is an amazing city with lots of beauty and makeup stores galore. As I’m backpacking it is very hard not to buy loads of products en route – dragging makeup through south east Asia is not really the best plan. I did however send Lauren a couple of surprises through the post so hopefully she will do some blogettes when they arrive! I did however pick up this marshmallow puff! I couldn’t resist. Obviously just a take on the ever popular beauty blender – using a rolling motion you dip it in your foundation ( only use a small amount) and apply to the skin. A little goes a long way here and it leaves a nice finish and it doesn’t soak up the product like a lot of other cosmetic sponges do. It’s off to the Phillipines for me so expect another blog from me when I arrive on the fabulous island of Malapascua! Tara for now…. Your world beauty blogger, Fran xx
I applied some of my new By Terry Cover-Expert foundation this morning and found it lasted well all day. I’m not wearing any other makeup other than a bit of blusher in the final pic and you can see the coverage is medium to full. I think I may have applied a little too much in the pic – you really don’t need too much of this product as a little goes a long way! The finish is slightly matt but felt comfortable to wear and would be good if your skin is normal to oily.
This is what I’m using today on the job. It’s a light diffusing matte foundation with correcting pigments. It’s a decent coverage and feels super light. It smells pretty lush too! Highly recommended.
This Chanel foundation in my opinion is pretty great. A little goes a very long way and it provides great coverage. It blends easily and really lasts. It’s not cheap – costing around £36 for 30 ml so it really depends on your budget and the packaging is a little retro and cumbersome but sturdy nevertheless. Try and get a sample to test!
Tip: My skin is a little on the dry side so it’s important that I moisturise well before application. If you have more mature skin, try a serum as well for an extra moisture boost.
