Making Waves

One of my new year’s resolutions is to pay a bit more attention to my hair. I am very lazy with my hair and I’d much rather spend time on my make-up! As you can see from this photo, my hair has a natural wave to it and it’s also quite fine so any product that’s too heavy just weighs it down. I wanted to try and find a spray that would enhance the waves but also keep my hair feeling soft. I’ve used mousse and other sprays in the past but they’ve always left my hair feeling sticky, which I cannot stand.

Whilst having a quick fix of the QVC Beauty channel the other day, I saw that they had the guys on from the Percy and Reed salon in London (Fran gets her hair cut there, posh!) Adam demonstrated the texture spray and I knew immediately this could be the one!

The girls at Space NK in Cobham had good things to say about the range and after I had a quick spritz, the first thing I noticed was the most amazing smell! The texture was light and non-sticky and I was also pleasantly surprised by the price, £14 for 150ml.

I think this could be a staple item for me as it’s so easy to use and it gave me a good result – I didn’t even have to blow-dry. I just wanted a product that would work with my natural waves and I’ve got it in Percy & Reed’s Texturising Spray.

Handy little Muji plastic makeup/accessory pouches

Fran bought me one of these the other day and I can’t get enough of them now! They are super cheap and seem pretty durable. I’m using the bigger one for my personal makeup brushes whilst I’m travelling around and the smaller one for hair pins and bobbles as I’m forever losing them.

They’re perfect for our make-up kits too so if you’re storage geeks like us you’ll love them.

Want to keep your skin looking young? Use a high SPF.

Summer is back, maybe only for a few days but isn’t it nice?! The rays inspired me to write this post about some of my favourite sunscreens. I took this photo whilst on holiday in Spain earlier this year.

Remember, it’s really important to protect your skin from the harmful rays to minimise your risk of developing skin cancer. If we protect our skin from a young age it can stop premature ageing.

Green People SPF 15 Sun Lotion is a nice non sticky suncream that doesn’t irritate your skin as it has no fragrance. My skin can get quite sensitive in the sun so this is a good option for anyone with sensitive skin.

La Roche Posay SPF 50 Tinted Fluid is a tinted lotion with high protection. This is great as it doubles up as a tinted moisturiser and instantly absorbs into the skin. It’s a fluid texture so it’s not heavy on your skin and you can wear make-up over the top. They also do a non tinted version.

Lancaster Sport SPF 30 Stick is good to use on smaller areas where we sometimes forget to apply sunscreen – lips, ears, back of neck. It’s a cream and a stick so a good multipurpose product.
